Compensation Engine & Back Office

The system a multi-brand direct-sales company runs on: who sold what, who earns what, and paying them.

What I covered

Lead engineering across the API, the back office, payouts, integrations and the database.

Mock-up with invented data: team volumes rolling up through a tree.

The problem

A multi-brand direct-sales company has to pay people correctly. That means tracking teams, rolling volume up through them, closing pay periods and paying out, while orders arrive from several stores and an ERP.

Mock-up with invented data: closing a pay period generates bonus rows.

What I built

  • A large, well-tested Go API with the compensation engine: team trees, volume roll-ups, pay periods, reprocessing and bonus runs.
  • A React back office for staff, members and customers: dashboards, commissions, inventory, reports, email automations and signed agreements.
  • A multi-store marketplace with custom pages, SEO and sitemaps.
  • A payout service with pluggable providers.
  • Store and ERP integrations: sign-in, subscriptions, order sync and store credit.
  • A standby database replica for high availability.
Mock-up with invented data: a payout batch is released and paid.
